Why I'm Competing: My Bulk & What’s Next
Hey everyone!
I thought I’d do a bit of a personal one today! It’s been a while since I’ve spoken about my own progress here. I’m so excited to share with you all something biggggg that’s happening in my own fitness journey.
Last year, I decided I want to compete in my first bodybuilding show - and I’m currently in the middle of a growth phase to prepare for it. It’s something I’ve thought about for a long time, but if I’m being honest, it’s also something that used to scare the fkkk out of me.
I always thought “I couldn’t do that.”
I used to even make jokes about how I couldn’t do it (how ugly is that? talk about self doubt)
But I’m at a place where I’m ready to prove to myself that I can.
The Fear of Competing
When I first thought about competing, I felt hesitant. The idea of stepping on stage, being judged, and going through the intense prep process was intimidating (it still is). There’s a lot of pressure, both physically and mentally. But after years of building my physique and coaching others, I realised that if I want to take my growth to the next level, I want to do this for me.
This isn’t about proving anything to anyone else - it’s about proving to myself that I can push past my limits and see just how far I can go.
Competing is a huge step in my journey, and I’m excited to face the challenge.
Starting My Prep
Right now, I’m focused on bulking, working hard to build as much muscle as possible. I’m in full grind mode, trying to squeeze out as much growth as I can.
Calories are up, training is intense, and Imaking sure I’m doing EVERYTHING I can to optimise my growth. I’ve got a solid plan in place, and as we approach the end of April/early May, I’ll begin my official prep.
Bulking is fun and full of gains, but prep will come with its own challenges. But I am SOOO fucking ready. I’m genuinely excited for the grind of it all.
I’ve always believed in the importance of consistency and discipline, and this will be put to the ultimate test.
Why I Believe You Have to Live the Lifestyle First
One thing I’ve been thinking about a lot - is that before you compete, I strongly believe you must already be living the bodybuilding lifestyle.
This is not a quick diet or something that should be entered into lightly. Bodybuilding is about consistency, dedication, and a mindset that goes wayy beyond just looking good - it’s doing the work, day in and day out, even when no one is watching.
For years I’ve already lived this lifestyle - eat, train, repeat. I’ve gone through the ups and downs, the trial and error, and most importantly, the dedication to making small, consistent improvements without the instant gratification.
Competing is the next natural step for me. I’m not jumping into it because it’s trendy or just because I can. I’m doing it because I’ve already put in the work. I’ve lived the lifestyle, and now I’m ready to take on the challenge that comes with stepping on stage.
What’s Next?
As I continue to bulk and prepare for my show, I’ll be sharing updates with you all. This journey isn’t just about the physical transformation - it’s about the mental growth too. It’s about pushing myself in ways I’ve never done before and sharing that process with you. I want to show you that with the right mindset, anything is possible.
Thanks for following along and supporting me on this journey. I can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes me, and I’m excited to prove to myself that I can do this!!!
Let’s GET ITTT
With love,
Coach Sandra x
