Summer Survival Guide

This week’s topic was actually inspired by a client of mine. Summer is here, and so are the BBQs, beach days, and nights out with friends. It can be tricky knowing how to navigate your goals during this season.

But that doesn’t AND SHOULDN’T mean your training and nutrition have to take a backseat. It’s 100% possible to enjoy the season AND stay on track with your progress.

  1. Prioritise Protein

Whether you're at a BBQ or dining out, always aim to fill your plate with lean proteins. Protein keeps you fuller for longer and helps maintain your muscle.

  2. Stay Active Outdoors:

A swim, beach volleyball, or even a long walk counts as movement and keeps you consistent.

  3. Plan Around Events:

If you know you're going out for dinner, keep earlier meals lighter and packed with veggies and lean protein. Balance is key.

  4. Hydrate & Limit Liquid Calories:

Summer cocktails are tempting, but they add up fast. Alternate each drink with water and opt for low-calorie drinks like vodka soda with fresh lime.

  5. Set Mini Goals:

The holidays can feel chaotic, but focusing on small, achievable goals each week keeps you feeling accomplished and aligned with your long-term vision.

  6. Hit the Gym Early:

Beat the heat by training in the morning when it’s cooler. It sets the tone for your day and leaves your evenings free.

The Key Takeaway: Not much should change. At the end of the day, Summer is just another season—it doesn’t have to be an excuse to let go of your goals. Stay consistent with your routine as best as you can, prioritise nutrition to fuel your training and recovery, and keep moving.

But also remember to enjoy time with friends, make lasting memories, and allow yourself some flexibility. It's all about finding balance and sticking to the big picture: consistency wins in the long run, not perfection.
