Why You Keep Overeating on the Weekend

Are you stuck in a cycle of overeating on the weekend?

Maybe every Monday you wake up feeling guilty and frustrated, swearing to yourself “I won’t do that again next weekend”

But then Friday rolls around, and you’re back in the same position - ordering Uber Eats, raiding the pantry, and wondering why you feel like you have no control.

If this sounds like you, you’re NOT alone.

This is something I see all the time, especially with women who are trying to lose fat, train hard, and eat “clean” during the week.

But tbh, most of the time, it’s not a lack of discipline…. It’s not that you’re broken or have no willpower.

This pattern is usually caused by UNDER fuelling during the week.

Your Body Isn’t the Problem—Your Weekday Nutrition Is

If you’re eating salads for lunch, skipping breakfast, keeping dinners super light, and trying to “be good” Monday to Friday…
OF COURSEEEE your body is going to lose it when you finally relax on the weekend.

You’re hungry. You’re tired. You’ve been running on empty for five days.

Then you see pizza on the counter Saturday night and your body is like “give me fucking all of it.”

This isn’t a lack of self-control.

This is biology. Your body is desperate for energy. And once it gets access to high calorie, highly delicious food - it doesn’t want to stop.

You Don’t Have an Overeating Problem

You probably have an UNDER eating problem.

You can’t restrict all week and expect your body to just “behave” on the weekend. That’s not how energy balance works.

When you deprive your body of food - especially if you're training hard… it’s going to try to make up for that deficit at some point.

So, What’s the Solution?

Simple:
Fuel your body properly throughout the week.

That means:

  • Eating balanced meals with enough carbs, protein, and fats

  • Not skipping meals

  • Making sure you’re supporting your training with enough food

  • Staying consistent with your calorie intake - not just Monday to Friday, but across the whole week

When your body feels nourished, you’ll be surprised how easy it is to say no to overeating on the weekend.

You won’t feel as hungry, you won’t be triggered by every social event or takeaway option, and you’ll stop swinging between extremes.

Ask Yourself These Questions:

If this sounded familiar, take a moment to reflect:

  • Are you actually fuelling your body to support your goals?

  • Are you eating enough to support your training and daily life?

  • Or are you constantly depriving yourself, hoping that more restriction will fix the problem?

Because more restriction won’t help.
More nourishment will.

If you're ready to break out of this cycle and learn how to eat in a way that supports your body and your goals… without the weekend guilt - reach out.

This is exactly the kind of thing I help my clients work through.

With love,

Coach Sandra xx
